Upward Basketball offers an opportunity for young athletes to discover and refine their athletic skills while cultivating a passion for the sport.

Through age-appropriate team play, athletes  begin to build positive character traits that will allow them to encourage, strengthen, and motivate themselves and their fellow teammates.

What is Upward about?

To develop mentally, young athletes learn right from wrong by discovering game rules and understand the objectives of the play, both of which foster a genuine love of the game. Learning to make positive choices will lead them on a path to success. Through wins and loss, athletes become equipped to use adversity and success to grow and develop into a well-rounded adult.
Improving physical ability is a key benefit of sports participation. It is through game play that athletic foundations are formed. These foundations are strengthened through skills introduced with structured activities. This helps young athletes compete at the highest level possible and develops a consistent desire to achieve.
Through Upward Sports, athletes discover and build spiritual purpose as they understand Christ’s plan for their lives and their part in it. This introduction to life’s purpose is built through intentional character lessons throughout the season. These lessons build toward the discovery of God’s big story.
Connecting with teammates is an essential element to the development of each young athlete. As they enjoy time with others, they are also learning how important sportsmanship and selflessness are as they compete with peers and begin new relationships. These are valuable character traits that will carry them whether they choose to go further in their athletic career, or move on to other aspirations. An essential part of young athletes connecting with teammates socially is learning the importance of putting the needs of others ahead of their own.

How to Register

We know…it’s a lot to read through, but it’s important to get a good understanding of the program before registering.
All registration will be done online.  Players have the possibility of asking for ONE special request.  The special request options are:
1. Request for a specific coach
2. Request for a specific friend (friend must also request player)
3. Request NOT to practice on a particular night (practices will be Tuesday and Thursday with a few teams practicing on Wednesday.
Remember only one request will be considered, so please choose carefully.

K/4 & K/5 Games and practices will be on Friday nights
1-3rd Grade Games will be on Friday nights
4-6th Grade Games will be on Saturday mornings

4th-6th Grade will have a tournament following the regular season.  Tournament games will be Friday night and Saturday morning.

Payments will be made at the time of registration.  The cost for the K/4 & K/5 camp is $50. The cost for the 1-6th Grade leagues is $75.  A limited amount of partial scholarships are available for those who would like to request one.  To request a scholarship, please contact our League Director, DJ Little

The regular price registration is over on December 10.  After December 10, registration fees will be $90.  All registrations can be refunded until December 19.  After that, only 50% of registration fees can be refunded.

Leagues will consist of at least 3 teams.  If enough teams are not formulated a full refund will be issued.

Each participant in the 1-6th grade leagues need to attend only one of two evaluation events.  Evaluations are on Tuesday, December 12th from 6pm-7:30pm and Saturday, December 16th from 8am-9:30am.  These evaluations are “open house” style.  Again, participants need only to attend ONE of these evaluations.

Because we try to formulate competitively balanced teams, we do evaluations to test the skill levels of each participants.  This is a time to also make sure that the registration information is correct, to size the players for their uniforms, to measure the height of the players, to take a photo for player introductions, and to perform 6 skills drills.

K/4 & K/5 players do NOT need to attend the evaluations.
